Cyclura Baby Alpha 2013

Cyclura baby Alpha (female) hatched September 4th, 2013.

Baby Alpha has been growing very fast and gaining weight like a healthy iguana. At 5 months old Alpha caught up with other bigger babies and weighs the same as baby Gamma. That’s a great progress. I took a photo of both juvenile rock iguanas Gamma (left) and Alpha (right) so you can see the comparison yourself.  Alpha is now a bigger baby of the clutch.

Baby Gamma (left) and Baby Alpha (right) 5 months old and weigh 134 grams.

Sometimes baby Alpha can be a sloppy eater. But so cute. He is 2 months old in this photo.

Our smallest baby Alpha isn’t that small anymore! She has almost tripled his weight in just two months and caught up with other babies. Check out her story below. It’s amazing to watch her advance so quickly. Here is an introductory video of Alpha, she is 2 months old and this video  was taken November 10, 2013.

Baby Alpha has almost doubled hers weight in the first month of his life. This is what she looks like on October 13, 2013. She weighs 46 grams in this photo (below).

Watch Alpha (baby on the lower right) bask with other babies. Alpha is one month old in this video.

She was the first one to hatch and also was the smallest of the bunch. She came out at 24g due to loosing some egg yolk sack during hatching. However her belly button sealed within a couple of days and she started  drinking carrot juice and eating greens just after a few days.

Today Alpha is very active, energetic and wants to explore the world. I would say that she is the most adventurous amongst other babies and loves to explore every crack in the enclosure. She visits his food dish several times a day and is gaining weight steadily. She loves to eat greens through the day, scampers around the cage and watches people. She is easy to handle and we believe she will make a great and beautiful Rock Iguana pet. Click on each photo to see his patterns details.
