Every year in October we celebrate our adult Cyclura Birthday. And this year wasn’t any different.
I prepared a huge bowl of freshly chopped fruit salad from papaya, persimmons, blackberries, strawberries and raspberries.
Each adult rock iguana gets a hefty portion of fruit and we let them gorge on it as much as they are willing to eat. Oh boy, they love to stuff their bellies. Normally we feed only a 1-4 bites of fruit with their greens daily. Feeding them such a big portion is a very special once a year occasion. But it is fun to see them so excited. Our male Casanova especially turned very blue while eating fruit. It has been noted that Cyclura lewisi turn blue while eating tasty fruit in the wild as well as in captivity.
